Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave

Hidden in the depth of the forest you will find an ancestral wonder.

Your tour guide will pick you up around 7:30 a.m. to take you to the starting point. After a 45-minute walk through the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve, crossing three streams along the way, you will reach the cave entrance where you swim 10 meters to a rock platform. The next 600 meters involve wading through water and navigating sharp, slippery edges, with some areas requiring you to swim. You will then walk without shoes through the sacred inner chambers. Along the way, you will see Mayan ceramics and the skeletal remains of people who were sacrificed to the gods. At the end of the cave, you will view the famous Crystal Maiden, the remains of a young person that has been cemented to the ground over time in a brown calcite shell. A picnic lunch will be provided at the site, and you will return to your hotel in the afternoon.

Includes: Roundtrip transportation to and from Belize City, tour guide, park entrance fee, safety equipment, a picnic lunch, drinks (water and soda), fresh fruit and dessert.
